Dear LEAD Elementary School Families,
WELCOME: Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year at LEAD, our Magnet School of Literacy, Emotional/Social and Enrichment Learning, Academics and Digital Arts/Technology Integration. We look forward to greeting you all on the first FULL day of school, Tuesday, August 14th with instructional minutes starting at 8 AM for all grades. Dismissal times are: TK at 12:20, K at 12:10, Grades 1-3 at 2:20 and Grades 4/5 at 2:45.
The 2nd day of school, Wednesday, is a MINIMUM day with dismissals as follows: TK, Grades 1,2 at 12:20, K at 12:10, and Grades 4/5 at 12:31. Thursday is Picture Day; students wear uniforms for pictures. SMILE! Thursday and Friday are full days for Grades 1-5 and minimum day dismissal for Grades TK and K. K full days begin on September 24th.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL and CLASS LISTS: Prior to the first day of school, class lists will be sent to your emails on Friday, August 10th. This is a new routine so please check your email in-boxes so you can share the good news of your child’s placement with your family. We also plan on greeting our First Grade students and families from 10-11 AM on the Monday the 13th at Shoreview Park. This will give First Grade families a chance to reconnect and meet their teachers who will all have name tags on! That Monday afternoon the same day, our TK and K families are invited to a “Meet and Greet” at 2:15 in the TK and K classrooms followed by a 3:00 PTA sponsored Play Date at Shoreview Park. All parents, please don’t forget to bring your teacher name/ classroom numbers email when you come Monday for TK/K and 1st grade "Meet and Greet" and Tuesday, first day of school!
7:40-3:30 Beginning Monday, August 13: School Office Assistant, Erika Hoole, Administrative Assistant, Denora Smith and I are happily available to assist you. LEAD teachers return August 13th to prepare their classrooms so they can welcome you all on the 14thl.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 14th: First Day of School! We look forward to seeing you all on time with the first instructional bell ringing at 8:00;.plan on leaving home for school to allow yourselves enough time to arrive by 7:55 so all children begin each day successfully. Please enter on the DALE side only. The parking lot is one way! To keep our children safe please No U turns at Ocean View and Cottage Grove. There is not a parking lot entrance from the Cottage Grove side of Ocean View. Help us keep our children, staff and families safe!

FIRST DAY PACKETS: Home with students on Tuesday; contain important, timely information for all families. Weekly envelopes go home on Thursday of every week thereafter.
We plan to accomplish our good work this year with continued parent engagement and community building. We strive to meet all students where they are at with high expectations and growth mindsets. We appreciate your continued support and presence as we begin this journey.
Please welcome these fine educators who are joining our LEAD family this year: Dras Kovesky, Resource Specialist, Hannah Schmidt teaching an addtional TK class, Missy Zywotko teaching our additional 2nd grade, and Deanne Thomas-Chadinah and Matt Wilkinson joining grade 5. They all bring a wealth of teaching and learning experiences to our already expert team of educators. Congratulations to Felicia Howell who is transitioning to PBIS Coach and Reading Specialist.
